It can be difficult to talk to young people about grief and loss, particularly when people close to them are dying or have died. We provide you with practical ideas on using creative ways to communicate with young people, allowing them to be more open about their feelings in a supportive environment

Who should attend?

Suitable for professionals whose work involves interaction (including online interaction) with bereaved children, young people, their parents and families. Please note this is separate to our The creative guide to supporting bereaved children with SEN course.

Learning outcomes

You will:

  • Identify the importance of helping children find ways to express themselves and their feelings.
  • Experience creative ways of helping children and families.
  • Gain a deeper understanding of the theories of loss and grief in relation to children.
  • Develop your self-awareness in relation to loss, grief and bereavement, and the impact of a child’s death on you as a professional.
  • Gain information about Child Bereavement UK and other support organisations, and resources available.

Cost: £45

We encourage prospective participants to consider their own experience of loss and how it might affect them during training. Our training is not usually suited to anyone who has suffered a recent, significant personal loss or bereavement.
