About volunteering

Volunteering is good for you. Did you know that there are enormous benefits to you, your family and your community? It can help you to meet new people, connect with your community, learn new skills, and even advance your career. Research shows that giving to others can also benefit your mental and physical health.

Volunteers are vital to helping us as we support families to rebuild their lives. We would love to have you as part of our friendly team of enthusiastic volunteers.

I have had some lovely experiences whilst volunteering for Child Bereavement UK. I've and the opportunity to do lost of things that I wouldn't usually have had the chance to do.

Child Bereavement UK volunteer

How can I start volunteering with Child Bereavement UK?

You can apply for a specific opportunity advertised on our volunteer job board, visit our section on volunteering at a festival and sign up, or register with us via our volunteering portal for updates on new opportunities.

How can I share my skills with Child Bereavement UK?

Do you have experience and skills in areas such as photography, teaching, marketing or business? Register on our volunteering portal and let us know of any skills you’d like to share with us.

I only have a couple of minutes/hours, what can I do to help?

Making a donation is a quick and easy way to make a difference, you can also follow our social media accounts and share our posts to help raise awareness of our work.

Alternatively, you can register as a volunteer and receive updates about new opportunities in our newsletter Volunteer Spotlight. This way you can keep track of updates and opportunities to see what interests you when you have more time to give.

I only have a day. Do you have one-day volunteering opportunities?

We have lots of one day opportunities throughout the year, from volunteering at a festival and bucket collections through to fundraising events and supporting our runners at cheer points. Look at our current volunteer roles to find our more.

Do you have longer-term volunteering roles?

Throughout the year we have a variety of longer-term volunteer and internship roles available and opportunities for volunteers who’d like to help on a regular basis. Current volunteer roles can be found on our website, and you can also register as a volunteer to be contacted about upcoming roles.

Are there opportunities to work alongside staff directly supporting bereaved families?

There are sometimes opportunities for volunteers to work alongside our staff who support families, where appropriate. Full training will be provided. The best way to check if we have anything available is to search our current volunteer roles.

I’m looking to get some experience and would like to do an internship. Is this something you offer?

On occasion we offer internships such as festival and event internships and challenge events internships. These are a great way to build skills and experience whilst supporting a great cause. Please look at our current volunteer roles to see what’s available. If you can’t see a role being promoted on the website, please register as a volunteer and tell us what interests you, as there may be roles available in the future.
