Gifting memories to bereaved children

This Was Them was founded by Tessa Marshall, who was bereaved of her father when she was just sixteen months old. The company creates bespoke books that give bereaved children access to stories of a parent who has sadly died.

Drawing on Tessa’s background in publishing, This Was Them gathers personal stories from friends and family which are then curated into a beautiful book of memories and photos. Books are typeset and published in hard back and each child receives a copy as part of the package, with additional copies available for purchase by the contributors. The books aim to give children a connection to their identity and heritage and are a tangible way to preserve memories.
