Last year over 7,000 Kiltwalkers raised over £2.3million for their chosen charities and causes in Scotland by taking part in Kiltwalk. This successful event returns this year creating an opportunity for people to raise funds for the causes they care about.

Child Bereavement UK, which supports families and educates professionals when a baby or child of any age dies or is dying, or when a child is facing bereavement, has signed up as one of the Kiltwalk’s official charities for 2018. The charity runs a bereavement service in Maryhill and provides support for bereaved parents, families and siblings at the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow.

Derek Kirkaldy, Child Bereavement UK’s Regional Fundraiser for Scotland said:

We are delighted to have the opportunity to be one of the official event-registered charities with the Kiltwalk 2018 and promote our participation in such an iconic event here in Scotland. By taking part and fundraising at one of the planned events in Glasgow, Aberdeen, Dundee and Edinburgh, you can help the charity to reach many more families who may need bereavement support.  So why not enjoy the stunning views whilst you walk and the real sense of camaraderie that this challenge event is renowned for and walk for Child Bereavement UK; it’s fun, friendly and open to all ages and abilities!

The Kiltwalk is the lowest cost platform to raise funds for what you care about, as all donations get a massive 40% boost due to the generosity of the Hunter Foundation.  Therefore by raising funds for Child Bereavement UK, 140% of what you raise will go where it is needed most, to continue to ensure access to high quality bereavement support and information to bereaved families in Scotland.

The walks of varying distances to suit different ages and abilities are taking place on the dates shown below:

  • Glasgow: 29th April 2018
  • Aberdeen: 3rd June 2018
  • Dundee: 19 August 2018
  • Edinburgh: 16 September 2018
