Lawrence explains why he’s supporting Child Bereavement UK by taking part in the Monte Carlo or Bust Black Forest Gateau Rally, in memory of his son James who died in 2010 aged 11 in a tragic accident.

I want to do something in aid of Child Bereavement UK to help other families in their time of need.

James was truly loved by his family, his numerous friends and everyone who knew him. He was so full of energy with a smile that could light up a room; he was full of fun and enthusiasm with everything he did. April 2022 is a strange milestone as he’ll have been gone longer than he was with us.

From 2-5 June 2022, James's godfather and I are going to do the Monte Carlo or Bust Black Forest Gateau Rally. This will involve driving a £500 'banger' from Naumur, Belgium to Monte Carlo over three and a half days, passing through six countries. The car will display Child Bereavement UK's logo and be wrapped in a Platinum Jubilee theme, thanks to my friend who owns the vehicle delivery specialists PVL UK. I know James would have loved to do the rally with us - he loved cars - even with the risk of breaking down in the mountains!

During our most difficult hours in the summer of 2010, we were helped by so many friends, family and professionals and I will always feel a huge debt for their love and support. I want to do something in aid of Child Bereavement UK to help other families in their time of need.
