Mary is one of Britain’s best-loved cooks with more than 75 books to her credit, and is the star of several TV series including BBC’s Great British Bake Off and Britain’s Best Home Cook.

Mary has supported many Child Bereavement UK fundraising events over the years, has raised money for the charity on BBC2’s Celebrity Cash in the Attic, has taken part in BGC’s trading floor fundraiser, as well as reading at our Carol Concerts, hosting afternoon teas and book signings, and featuring in our One More Minute awareness campaign. Mary was also interviewed by fellow Patron, Alan Titchmarsh, for a feature in The Telegraph

Mary has a personal affinity with the charity – her son William died in 1989 at the age of 19.

Mary said:

When William died, there was little support available for bereaved families. Through my links with Child Bereavement UK, I have met families who have received and benefited from their services. I think it’s a wonderful charity and I am delighted to be a Patron.
