Nick Knowles becomes Patron of Child Bereavement UK

TV presenter Nick Knowles has become a Patron of Child Bereavement UK, a charity which supports families and educates professionals both when a baby or child of any age dies or is dying, and when a child is facing bereavement.

DIY SOS frontman Nick Knowles has hosted BBC1 prime time Saturday night quiz shows Break the Safe, Secret Fortune, and Who Dares Wins. DIY SOS – The Big Build is BBC1’s most watched and longest running prime time factual series, which won a BAFTA last year. Nick was also a contestant in I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here in 2018.

Nick has been a friend of Child Bereavement UK for several years, and has seen first-hand some of the charity’s work; BBC1s DIY SOS: Grenfell featured the building of a new community centre where Nick met with one of Child Bereavement UK’s practitioners and young people bereaved as a result of the Grenfell Tower fire.

Nick joins a number of other well-known Patrons of the charity including Claudia Winkleman, Ben Fogle, Alan Titchmarsh, Gary Barlow, Jason Watkins, Joey Essex, and Mary Berry. HRH The Duke of Cambridge became Child Bereavement UK’s Royal Patron in 2009.

On becoming Patron, Nick Knowles said:

“I’m deeply honoured to have been asked to be a patron of Child Bereavement UK. Through my work on DIY SOS – The Big Build I have frequently benefited from the charity’s expertise when preparing for filming with people who have been bereaved. I am delighted to become a Patron and to be able to raise awareness of its wonderful work.”
