Zabia attended Child Bereavement UK's national conference Diversity and Inclusion in Bereavement Support. 

I attended the conference in the hope that I could learn transferable skills to take back to Myton. We are trying to meet the needs of minority communities, but it’s a learning curve for them as well as us. They need to understand that it's not a bad thing to talk about death and dying, it's not not a bad thing to accept support, it's a good thing.

We're not seeing minority communities use our services. My role is to engage these communities a lot more. I'm currently targeting faith-related communities, I've just completed an event where I invited all sorts of minority faith leaders to develop an understanding of what our service provides.

I'm also running a secondary project which is a faith ambassador project. It involved recruiting faith ambassadors, or faith leaders, in a voluntary capacity.  They go back out into their community and let them know what the hospice does.
