Fundraising at home

Most of us are having to stay at home at the moment but that doesn't mean you can't raise funds.

Here are a few fun ideas for fundraising without leaving the house!

Host a Video Coffee Morning

Why not get together via a social media apps such as Zoom, Houseparty or Teams for lunch or coffee with friends or family? You and your friends could donate the tip you’d normally give at a café or restaurant, or the cost of a coffee, to Child Bereavement UK instead.

Host a Virtual Open-Mic Night

Host an open mic night where attendees can join via a group video meeting and then virtually raise their hand when they want to take the microphone. Give the evening a topic - e.g. 80s, musicals, opera - and ask if they would like to sing in memory of, or in celebration of, someone special. Sponsor each other to sing songs of your choice for charity.

Online Readathon

This is a great activity for children. Challenge your children or set a target for the whole family. Ask friends and family to sponsor you over social media per book read, or ask them to make total donation just for taking part. Why not take it in turns to read a chapter to each other?

Host an online Family Quiz Night

Using apps such as Zoom or Houseparty, create a quiz and share it with supporters. Everyone could pay to play, invite all your friends, family and colleagues to your quiz, and donate the proceeds to Child Bereavement UK.

Hold an Online Bingo Fundraiser

A bingo night is a fun and easy way to raise funds for Child Bereavement UK. You can host a virtual game using social media platforms such as Zoom and House Party.

Why not invite your friends, family and colleagues to join you online, practice your bingo lingo, and have a few laughs while raising funds for Child Bereavement UK?

Organise a Sweepstake

These competitions are a great way to raise money and they are super easy to set up. You can create a sweepstake about almost anything from predicting who will win Strictly to the number of sweets in a jar. Ask everyone to pay a set amount to guess and split the sum between the winner and Child Bereavement UK.

Head shave

Why not go the extra mile and brave the shave for Child Bereavement UK? If this is a step too far, why not ask a family member to cut or style your hair for you instead and create a 'new do' - if you dare! There will be plenty of people wanting to see how well they do. Get friends and family to sponsor you. You could also donate your monthly haircut fees and really embrace your new look.

Wax to the max

How much are your friends willing to pay to hear you shout “ouch!”? Get your friends and family to sponsor you to wax your legs, arms, or chest for Child Bereavement UK. You can set yourself a fundraising target on Just Giving (or another donation platform) and only agree to do it if you hit the fundraising target, then live stream your wax on Youtube or Facebook..!

Swear jar

Whenever someone in the house swears, they must donate £1 to a swear jar. The money will come rolling in once you start hiding the toilet roll!

Travel money

Use the money you would have used on your commute into work to support our work with bereaved families.
