Who is this training for? This training is suitable for individuals whose work brings them into contact with grieving children and young people, for example: health and social care staff, care home staff, faith leaders, emergency service personnel, and charities. Parents may prefer to attend the parent/carer webinar. We recommend that families attend our webinar: Supporting a bereaved child - for parents, families and carers. What will I learn? During this training, you will: Explore the world of children and young people living with and bereaved through substance use. Consider ‘anticipatory’ grieving and ‘disenfranchised grief’ when substance use has been a factor in a person’s death and what children and young people may be feeling or needing when a parent or relative dies after dependency. Consider how we all grieve – and how being bereaved through drink and/or drug dependency may affect grief. Think about what is most (and less) helpful when offering support to grieving children, young people and families. Reflect on the impact of a death following substance use on professionals. Receive information about Child Bereavement UK and other support organisations, and resources available. There will be an opportunity to ask questions during the webinar using the Q&A function. Booking details £50 per person. If you’d like us to deliver this training for a group or organisation, please email [email protected].
