Support & guidance Find support How we can support you Supportive talks and webinars about grief Grief is complex, it’s complicated and it’s messy. Whilst everyone grieves differently there are some common threads and themes that can be helpful to know. Every month, our bereavement support workers run live talks and free webinars for families which are all detailed below: Emotion in Motion group - for children aged 8-11 Creative Storytime Workshops - for children under 12 Live talk with Q&A - for ages 13-25 Supporting a bereaved child - a live webinar for parents, families and carers How to navigate a life with grief - for ages 13-25 (recorded live talk) Grief 101 - for parents and carers supporting grieving children and young people (recorded live talk) Emotion in Motion group for children aged 8-11 Join our group on Zoom for an hour of movement for bereaved children aged 8-11 years old. Your feelings and emotions can be expressed freely through dance, music and connection. Together, we create a welcoming space to move, reflect and support each other in a positive uplifting way. Please dress comfortably and have enough space to move freely. There will be a dedication white board available during the session where you can share the name or a message for your important person. The next dates are to be confirmed. Creative Storytime Workshops for children under 12 A free online grief workshop for children aged 12 and under (accompanied by a parent/carer), hosted by our bereavement specialists. In our new Creative Storytime Workshop, we will be reading a story and doing a creative activity that is linked to grief. Our trained bereavement specialists will model how books can be used as a springboard to help children to express their grief and discuss the themes of the workshop. We hope to inspire a conversation between children and parents and help them safely express and navigate difficult feelings through stories, play and art. These sessions will be a safe space, where attendee camera and mics will be turned off throughout but you can send us your questions in the chat during the talk. If you can, please bring some cardboard (the back of a cereal box will be fine), string or ribbon, coloured pens, glue, and any stickers or shiny things to the workshop so you and your child can take part in the creative activity. The next workshop date is to be confirmed. Live talk with Q&A for ages 13-25 Grief doesn’t happen in a vacuum. You are still having to experience and continue with your life whilst grieving and that’s completely unique to you. We recognise that grief can be ‘turned up’ during certain moments and milestones so we’re hosting a free live talk and Q&A on Instagram once a month on various topics about grief (this is hosted by Talk Grief, our dedicated online space for grieving teenagers and young adults). It’s your chance to hear directly from a bereavement support professional, ask questions and hear what other young people would like to know about grief. Whilst these sessions are confidential, which means that we will not share anything you tell us with anyone else, there are limitations. If you share something with us that makes us concerned about the safety of you, or someone else, we may have to pass this onto organisations outside of Child Bereavement UK. We will always try to talk to you about this first, if this is the case. If you need crisis support, please reach out to your local emergency services (in the UK, this is 999). The next live talk and Q&A is to be confirmed. Follow us on Instagram Supporting a bereaved child - a live webinar for parents, families and carers This webinar provides information for parents, carers and family members to help them support children and young people when someone important to them has died.
